Description

Move beyond the predictable; develop new ideas and products, bond as a team.

We know that creative people solve problems better and respond more positively to change. With the economic climate as it is, companies are looking to their people – their best and strongest asset – to help them survive and thrive. And that may mean doing things differently.

A company that wants to achieve or remain cutting edge can’t do it by resting on its laurels or past successes. It needs to be continually building a better mousetrap or at least making the present one more attractive.

ultimateITcourses’s applied learning approach teaches you and your team techniques and tools to help you unleash their creativity and come up with innovative, new solutions to problems. Whether you are in IT or an accountant this workshop will help you look at things from a different perspective, taking a fresh approach and give you and your team a road-map so that they may think and work creatively. And by focusing on creativity and innovation your team will work together much better.

Course Outline

Introduction and Course Overview
Get to know other participants and discuss what will take place during the workshop.  Participants will also have an opportunity to identify their personal learning objectives.

Creative Process
Learn how to break down the process into steps and organize the tools needed to help your team to succeed in generating and implementing new ideas.

Gathering Data
Before brainstorming begins, it’s important to ensure you’re solving the right problem and understand who your users, clients or stakeholders are. In this session, you will identify what information is needed, what you need to know about the issue, and decide what information to share with your team before beginning to generate creative ideas.

Brainstorming Rules
In this session, you will learn what can make or break a creative idea generation session and which rules will help you to create a lively session where everyone participates and feels valued. You will learn how to use Edward De Bono’s “Six Thinking Hats” for managing brainstorming sessions and apply the technique to generate ideas within this session.

Idea Generation Tools
Learn how to think laterally and break the rules using idea generation tools.  Understand how both left brain and right thinking can contribute to creativity. Apply different idea generation tools, including Mind Mapping, reversal technique and SCAMPER to your organization’s projects.

Rate and filter ideas
Learn how to quickly rate and filter ideas using the wisdom of your team and gaining consensus over which ideas to move forward. Apply your selected tools to the ideas that you generated in a previous exercise.

Planning for implementation
Using ideas that you have generated earlier begin to plan how you can test these ideas and move them forward easily within your organization.

Workshop Wrap-Up
At the end of the day, participants will have an opportunity to ask final questions and create an action plan.
